Title : Spears Wants Schwarzenegger`s Help
Body :

Troubled star Britney Spears is desperate for California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger`s help in her ongoing custody battle, according to reports. The singer - whose lawyers from legal firm Trope & Trope last month filed a motion requesting permission to withdraw as her counsel - allegedly believes her inability to keep an attorney in her custody case with ex-husband Kevin Federline violates her "civil rights." Spears` estranged manager Sam Lutfi reportedly contacted Schwarzenegger`s former publicist to help put the 26-year-old in touch with the state commander.

A source tells the New York Daily News, "Britney says her civil rights have been violated and she wants to talk to Arnold about it. She wants the governor to look into why she can`t get an attorney. Sam was chewing on his dinner while he was saying all this into the phone. He wanted Schwarzenegger to call him, and he said he`d hand Britney the phone."

Spears lost the right to visit her sons Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, last month after a breakdown at her Beverly Hills home at the end of a scheduled visit, which resulted in a three-hour police stand-off.

Title : Bai Ling Arrested for Shoplifting
Body :

Chinese movie star Bai Ling has been arrested for shoplifting, after she was caught in the act at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday afternoon. The Crow actress allegedly walked into a terminal gift shop at around 4:30pm and took two celebrity magazines and a pack of batteries, before casually leaving the store without paying for her goods - worth just $16. But Ling was spotted by an eagle-eyed store employee and placed under citizen`s arrest.

Ling, who was reportedly "co-operative but crying," was taken to a nearby police station where she was booked for theft, according to Tmz.com. And hours later, the 37-year-old posted a message about her trip on her website accompanied with photos of herself outside the Southwest terminal - but failed to mention her arrest at all.

Writing on her blog, she says, "Delayed the flight, wondring (sic) again in the airport like a ghost, why can`t I just be the sun smile? My heart is a little sad now, casted by the melody of life ..."

Title : Fonda Swears on Live TV
Body :

Jane Fonda turned the air blue on morning talk show Today on Thursday when she uttered the explicit "c" word. The actress, 70, joined Eve Ensler on the show`s sofa to discuss the 10th anniversary of the playwright`s The Vagina Monologues-inspired V-Day when she stunned viewers by saying an anatomically-explicit word. Asked how she got involved in V-Day and the play, where celebrities act out personal monologues, Fonda explained she wasn`t keen on the whole idea at first.

She said, "I live in Georgia; I was asked to do a monologue called [c-word] and I said, `I don`t think so, I`ve got enough problems.`" Fonda said she later saw the play and it "changed my life." The expletive ran during the live broadcast on the East Coast. It was bleeped out for subsequent broadcasts.

Later in the show, interviewer/host Meredith Vieira apologized to viewers, stating, "We were talking about The Vagina Monologues and Jane Fonda inadvertently said a word from the play that you don`t say on television. It was a slip and obviously she apologizes, and so do we. We would do nothing to offend the audience. So please accept that apology."

Since her first The Vagina Monologues performance, Fonda has become a V-Day champion, traveling the world with Ensler and performing The Vagina Monologues in India, Palestine, Mexico and Jordan.

Title : Swinging into business
Body :

Matt Virtue, who works as a c Matt Virtue, who works as a consultant at a Washington law firm, says he spends more than $US10,000 ($A12,570) a year to attend conventions, hotels and clubs where he and his girlfriend can have sex with other partners.

"Any other hobby that I was into at 40 years old is going to cost me $10,000," he said from a hot tub he was sharing with his girlfriend and a couple with whom they had been intimate the night before. "Dude, I`m addicted to it, there is no doubt about it."

Such enthusiasm has turned what were once private passions into a multimillion dollar business. Lifestyles Organisation, America`s largest swinger services company, has annual sales of about $US15 million ($A18.86 million).

Swingers also bring in millions of dollars to specialty clubs and hotels in the United States as well as Jamaica, Mexico, France and elsewhere.

"We`re talking about a lifestyle, but in reality we are also talking about a business," Robert McGinley, 73, the president of Lifestyles Organisation, said during its annual convention in Las Vegas, which attracts about 900 couples.

Lifestyles Organisation caters to a middle-class demographic who want to meet like-minded couples and who typically want to hide their passions from what they call `vanillas` (conventional couples).

Efforts to meet such couples outside those circles often fail, giving tour, club and convention organisers steady business.

Terri, 48, attending the convention from Boise, Idaho - who asked that her last name not be published - said she and her husband of 21 years spend as much as $US8,000 ($A10,057.2) a year on several weeks of swinging vacations and club visits.

At this year`s event, Anaheim, California-based Lifestyles Organisation contracted out an entire hotel near the Las Vegas Strip and organised seminars and parties for middle-aged couples.

The most exhibitionist of those gathered in open hotel rooms after midnight to have sex as others watched or joined in. Some couples made small talk as they were engaged in sex, including one man who boasted that his son was in medical school.

"The other night I looked up and there were five or six people looking," said Terri, who retired from the US Air Force two years ago. "I`m glad I was giving them a good show."

"I`ve had three (lovers) in the past 24 hours."

Leading sex researchers say they do not know the number of swingers in the United States, so it is difficult to pinpoint how much business the subculture represents overall.

Rick Conner, a swinger and author of an advice book for such couples, estimates there are 100,000 US swingers, of whom 20,000 are particularly active. Other swingers have suggested the number is in the low millions.

Despite the unusual focus of the convention, McGinley shares the bottom-line concerns of many businessmen.

"In business there is risk and you have to decide is it a reasonable risk or not," he said. "Behind the scenes there is a lot of planning that goes into this and a lot of going over financials, financials of the past and what is the current situation."

He said couples paid a registration fee of $US690 ($A867), out of which $US200 ($A251) covered costs, leaving an overall profit of more than $US400,000 ($A502,860). Couples pay additionally for hotel rooms and flight costs.

Lifestyles Organisation faced a few unusual incidents. His staff had to halt one couple from engaging in a sex act inside the Tuscany Suites restaurant.

Conventions bring Lifestyles $US4 million ($A5.03 million) in annual sales; their travel business booking swinging guests into resorts such as Hedonism II in Jamaica or Desire in Mexico bring in another $US10 million ($A12.57 million) to $US12 million ($A15.09 million) a year, McGinley said.

"We relax our already liberal rules to accommodate the Lifestyles Organisation and make the entire resort clothing-optional," explained Richard Bourke, general manager of Hedonism II.

He said Lifestyles Organisation books $US2 million ($A2.51 million) of rooms a year over six contracted weeks. Hedonism II staff are barred from intimate relations with the guests and some have been fired for violating the edict, Bourke said.

"You have resorts with big-name resort companies that are catering to it," McGinley said. "They`re not into swinging at all, but they are into making money, and we`re the ones that provide the clients for them."

Desire Resort and Spa in Los Cabos, Mexico opened in November with a focus on the swinging market. About half of the guests are active swingers, according to Jesus Prado Leal, a receptionist.

Several hundred clubs nationwide also cater to swingers. Jeff James, who works for Club Freedom Acres in San Bernardino County east of Los Angeles, said 225 to 260 couples visit on a typical Saturday night, paying $US85 ($A106) each, with a similar number on Fridays paying $US65 ($A82). "It`s doubled in daily attendance in the last three years," he said.

Swinging also boosts ancillary services such as breast enhancements and erectile dysfunction drugs. "Viagra is definitely part of the adult scene," said Deborah, a 52-year old aesthetician grandmother from Dallas, Texas, who asked that her last name not be used. "Instead of four stars before, it`s probably five stars now."

Title : PAUL MCCARTNEY AND CHRISTIE BRINKLEY SLOW DANCE
Body :

Paul McCartney has been seen dancing with former supermodel Christie Brinkley, sparking romance rumours.

The pair are both currently holidaying in The Hamptons and ran into each other at a James Taylor concert.

Paul, 64, and Christie, 53, are said to have slow-danced and "cuddled" during the romantic song "How Sweet It is To Be Loved By You," and spent most of the night together.

The former Beatle is currently going through a messy divorce with Heather Mills, while four-times married Christie is in the process of divorcing architect Peter Cook, who she wed in 1996 and split from in 2006.

However, Christie`s second husband Billy Joel is doubtful the pair will become an item, and insists she knows the "Yesterday" singer through him.

Musician Joel told US TV show "Extra": "I know Paul from a long time ago, many, many years ago. We knew Paul, his late wife Linda and their children."

"I think Christie knows him from the same way, they`re just old friends."

Paul agreed to go on vacation to the fashionable US resort at the same time as his estranged wife Heather, 39, so the custody arrangements of their three-year-old daughter, Beatrice, wouldn`t be disrupted.

The pair`s attempts to put on a "united front" for the sake of their daughter have seemingly failed.

This week, the legendary musician sailed alone in his boat, named "Linda" after his first wife, while Heather played pool in a nearby bar with a male friend.

Title : ROBBIE WILLIAM WINS BINGO
Body :

The 33-year-old singer joined burlesque dancer Dita von Teese for a charity tournament of the popular number game hosted by "Superbad" actress Erica Vittina Phillips at Hollywood`s Hamburger Mary`s bar and grill on Wednesday (08.15.07).

Robbie was the first to shout "Bingo" after all his numbers came in and his prize was a Diane Merrick leopard-print handbag.

Proceeds from the evening went to a charity helping to fight breast cancer.

Robbie has been indulging in innocent recreational activities of late, following his stint in rehab earlier this year, where he was treated for an addiction to prescription drugs.

Last month, he posted a bizarre video on the internet claiming he had found God.

The footage showed a dishevelled Robbie declaring his love for the Christian faith by singing lyrics from a new song he had called "Bodies."

The star - who was featured smoking a cigarette in a dark room - sung: "God came in the sunshine. He showed me a lifeline."

"What a day, Jesus really died for me. Yeah, Jesus really tried for me."

Title : Lindsay Lohan Sued Over Car Chase
Body :

Lindsay Lohan was sued Tuesday for assault and negligence by a passenger in a car the actress allegedly chased while drunk last month

“What Miss Lohan did that night was extremely dangerous and reprehensible,” Tracie Rice, the woman who filed the suit, said in statement, according to the Associated Press. “Someone could easily have been killed or seriously hurt because of her irresponsible decisions that evening.”

Rice’s attorney, Paul Hoffman says: “My client, Tracie Rice, thought she was going to die that night, and wants Ms. Lohan to be held accountable because Lohan’s behavior was so extreme and outrageous. Ms. Rice is still traumatized from the incident.”

Hoffman says they’re suing for an undisclosed amount. No hearing date has been selected yet.

Lohan’s rep was not immediately available for comment.

Lohan, 21, was arrested last month on suspicion of drunken driving after the brief chase that ended in Santa Monica. Police later found a small amount of cocaine in her pocket.

Lohan was chasing a car driven by Michelle Peck, the mother of Lohan’s assistant. Rice was a passenger in Peck’s vehicle.

Three men have claimed they were unwilling passengers in the car Lohan was driving.

Title : Lisa Marie Presley Marks Dad’s Death with a Duet
Body :

Lisa Marie Presley broke down in tears when she heard her duet performance with her father, rock ‘n’ roll legend Elvis.

“We had two hours to lay down my vocals,” she told Spinner.com on Tuesday about recording the song “In the Ghetto” to honor the 30th anniversary of Elvis’s death. “So the next morning, I heard the rough … and … I’ve never cried when I’ve done anything … ever … but I just lost it when I heard it.”

The song is the original version of Elvis’s hit from 1969 with Lisa Marie’s voice added in. There are also images of her father in the video, the AP reports.

“People have been asking me to do another duet with him forever, but I had to do my own thing before I went back there,” Presley, 39, told USA Today. “So I was ready. I just had to figure out what would be right. And suddenly it came to me, all at the eleventh hour.”

She did a similar project for the 20th anniversary of her father’s death, but “Don’t Cry Daddy” was never released commercially.

“In the Ghetto” will be available on iTunes and proceeds from sales will go to the New Orleans branch of Presley Place, a transitional housing facility for homeless families that is in the process of being set up.

“I do think this idea would mean a lot to him,” Presley told USA Today. “Singing this particular duet with him was more emotional for me than anything I’d done before. I wanted to focus on something important, and not just do something silly.”

She said New Orleans was an obvious choice for her after she saw the aftermath of Katrina. “It was hotter than hell, and the place was like a ghost town,” she told the newspaper. “The place is still utterly devastated. I felt like, ‘Well, I guess I’m here for a reason.’ ”

Presley is married to guitarist and music producer Michael Lockwood. Presley has two children from her previous marriage to Danny Keough, Riley, 18, and Benjamin, 14.

In another musical blast from the past, this week the Osmond Brothers, joined by siblings Donny, Marie and Jimmy, taped a 50th anniversary reunion show that PBS will broadcast next year, the AP reports. Its title will be Still.

“I don’t think they’ve been honored or the accolades haven’t been what they should be,” Marie Osmond, 47, said of brothers Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay Osmond, who began as the Osmond Brothers barbershop quartet in 1957.

“We think it could be that in the ’70s it was drugs, sex and alcohol, and they were clean cut,” Marie further observed. “They were God-fearing, moral men.”

Title : SUCK IT, SEXY BOY, SAYS DAMON TO CLOONEY
Body :

Matt Damon told George Clooney to ``suck it, sexy boy`` when he was named most bankable star by Forbes.

The 36-year-old actor immediately contacted his "Ocean`s Thirteen" co-star - who has twice been named People magazine`s Sexiest Man Alive - to boast that he had finally trumped him in a poll.

When asked if he had reveled in his "victory," Matt - who has made a fortune playing former CIA assassin Jason Bourne in the "Bourne" trilogy - told BANG Showbiz: "Oh yeah! The email that went out to George said, `Suck it, sexy boy!` and I attached the article."

"And he wrote back, `Yeah, that`s great, I had that read to me by one of my servants at my villa!`"

According to the poll, Matt - whose first two "Bourne" movies banked $500 million, while the third installment "The Bourne Ultimatum" topped the US box office in its opening week - makes the studio $29 for every dollar he is paid.

Brad Pitt came second on the Ultimate Star Payback list, making $24 for every dollar, while Vince Vaughn was in joint third place with "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp.

Former "Friends" actress Jennifer Aniston was the highest-ranked female at number five.

Title : Joel Madden Set to Pop Question to Nicole Richie?
Body :

Joel Madden has something special in store for girlfriend Nicole Richie: “a little ring,” as Regis Philbin called it on live, national television Thursday morning.

Appearing with his band, Good Charlotte, on ABC’s Live! with Regis and Kelly, the musician, 28, was pressed about his personal life and Richie – who is 4 1/2 months pregnant with the couple’s child.

“You’re going to present her, maybe, with – did I hear the right thing, or should I not even talk about this?” said Philbin.

“Uh, what?” deadpanned Madden.

“A little ring, or something,” said Philbin.

“I was hoping it would be a surprise, but now –” answered Madden.

Madden’s reaction quickly forced Philbin spin on his heel and ask the frontman’s identical twin (and the band’s lead guitarist), Benji, whom he was dating.

But the cat was out of the bag.

In anticipation of becoming a father, Madden said he is reading the guidebooks What to Expect When You’re Expecting, The Expectant Father and Baby Signs, which prompted the Live! guest host, Regis’s wife Joy Philbin, to say it is good he is taking his responsibilities seriously.

Earlier this month, Richie, 24, with Madden sitting at her side, told Diane Sawyer for a TV interview, “I would really want to be someone my child would look up to.”

For the record, Benji Madden said he’s not only dating “a beautiful Australian actress,” as Philbin called Sophie Monk, but, in Madden’s words, “Yes, we’re engaged … Rock ‘n’ roll is good.”
